Tomorrows Installers – The youth of today!

The Rustic Mosaic Project

On October 1st 2016 – The City of Toronto and the Urban Arts Centre unveiled 3 murals at the Falstaff Community Centre.

The murals were the culmination by UrbanArts, a non-profit Community Arts Council focused on enhancing neighborhoods by engaging youth in community development through the arts. UrbanArts initiates arts activities that bring people together in central-west Toronto and city wide. Their mission is to enhance neighborhoods by engaging youth in community development through the arts.

AIPmedia was honored to be invited by 3M Canada to train the youth, print and supervise the installation of this great project. These young artists learned how it install vinyl and successfully applied over 1900 sq.ft. of 3M ij480 by the Oct 1st deadline, working tirelessly and long hours.

Some of these youth were between 15 – 18 years old and worked as hard as installers twice their age! It was fantastic to see what young creative minds could do to these brick wall canvases. We are so busy in the graphics industry we sometimes forget how it is driven by creative people, and their unique way of looking at the world.

This was a great project by great community organizers.
